Bracknell, Berkshire
Up to £70,000 per year (DOE)
Full-time (4 days per week + weekends)
The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dynamic Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join and lead a growing veterinary practice in Bracknell, Berkshire. This role is ideal for a confident vet looking to take the next step into clinical leadership within a supportive and well-connected environment.
The practice is situated in a leafy suburb with excellent transport links via the M3 and M4, offering easy access to Reading and London. The site benefits from modern facilities including three consult rooms, dental x-ray, and separate cat and dog wards. A range of shops and a leisure centre are also conveniently located nearby.
The successful candidate will also have access to a nearby 24-hour referral centre and a network of sister practices specialising in orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, dermatology, internal medicine, ultrasonography, dentistry, exotics, and ophthalmology.
Key Responsibilities
The Lead Veterinary Surgeon will play a pivotal role in delivering outstanding clinical care while driving team performance and commercial success. Responsibilities include:
- Providing exceptional veterinary care during consultations and surgical procedures
- Delivering outstanding client care with clear communication and updates
- Leading and mentoring the clinical team to support development and performance
- Ensuring compliance with RCVS standards and clinical governance
- Working closely with the Practice Manager to optimise practice performance and profitability
- Preparing accurate treatment estimates and managing financial processes
- Supporting clinical handovers and coordinating patient transfers when required
- Promoting a progressive and positive clinical culture
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with proven leadership capability and a passion for high-quality care.
- RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon
- Strong clinical leadership and mentoring experience
- Proven ability to deliver exceptional patient and client care
- Commercial awareness within a veterinary practice environment
- Experience building and maintaining high-performing teams
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to influence, coach, and motivate colleagues
- Interest or experience in ophthalmology (desirable but not essential)
