Our client is looking to recruit a Lead Veterinary Surgeon at their small animal hospital in the historical market town of Darlington. The hospital holds accreditation from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and is renowned for maintaining exceptionally high standards across all three of their practices. With convenient transport links to nearby cities such as Durham and Newcastle, Darlington offers an ideal location for commuting professionals.
As Lead Vet you will be responsible for directing the practice and its staff in providing the very best care to clients and pets. You will also have an engaged interest in the running of the practice and be rewarded for its success.
Key accountabilities of the role include managing the sales performance, budget and overall profitability of the practice on a day to day basis, ensuring all team members provide the very best quality care to all patients, assess and examine and diagnose patient's medical issues, perform surgery, prescribe medication and maintain patient's records.

The hospital offers a wide range of services, such as soft tissue surgery, orthopaedics, dentistry, gum disease treatment, dermatology, endoscopy, ultrasound, and x-rays. In addition to the main hospital, there is a separate Cats and Exotics Clinic nearby, providing a dedicated stress-free environment for the treatment of cats and exotic species. The hospital's third clinic, recently renovated, offers outpatient surgical procedures and consultations. The hospital has achieved gold status from the ISFM Cat Clinic, reflecting their commitment to feline-friendly practices.
The successful candidate needs to have excellent organisational skills and have the ability to keep on top of practice protocols and procedures. You need to be a qualified MRCVS and be registered with the RCVS.
Our client can also support Certificates of Sponsorship for a Tier 2 (General) Visa if you meet the criteria and are eligible to register as a veterinary surgeon with the RCVS upon arrival in the UK.
The Rota:
• Full time - 4 day week
• Weekend work on a fair rota basis with time off in lieu
• 12 month FTC (Maternity Cover)
