An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to take the lead in complex and varied surgeries at a highly regarded 24-hour hospital in South West London. This role is perfect for a skilled surgeon who thrives on intricate soft tissue and orthopaedic procedures, working with both an established caseload and regional referrals.
As the lead surgeon, you will oversee a dedicated surgical team in a fast-paced environment, managing theatre nurses, handling second-opinion cases, offering expert guidance to the region, and mentoring junior colleagues. The hospital’s 24-hour nature ensures exposure to a diverse range of cases, from routine consultations and surgeries to advanced medical and surgical workups. Equipped with an in-house laboratory, x-ray, ECG, ultrasound, endoscopy, and CT, the hospital provides efficient diagnostics using state-of-the-art technology. As an RCVS Practice Standards Accredited Small Animal Hospital with emergency and critical care accreditation, the commitment to clinical excellence and animal welfare is at the heart of everything they do.
You will be joining a friendly and experienced team, many of whom have been with the hospital for over a decade. The team includes certificate holders in small animal internal medicine, pain management and western acupuncture, small animal surgery, and imaging. Your leadership will be instrumental in maintaining the hospital’s exceptional standards, ensuring a collaborative and progressive working environment.
This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week over four days, with a 1:6 weekend rotation, allowing for a healthy work-life balance. To be considered, you must be RCVS registered with a strong background in both soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery.
