Night Registered Veterinary Nurse Job in Hampshire

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Night Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join a leading 24-hour veterinary referral hospital in Hampshire. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse seeking a part-time permanent role within a highly supportive, specialist-led environment.

This position would suit an organised, proactive and compassionate RVN who thrives in a busy clinical setting and enjoys delivering exceptional overnight patient care.

The Role – Night RVN

The successful candidate will play an integral role in providing outstanding overnight nursing care to a diverse caseload of small animals within a state-of-the-art veterinary hospital.

Working predominantly within the wards department, the Night Veterinary Nurse will ensure patients remain comfortable, safe and supported throughout their recovery, maintaining the highest standards of inpatient care.

Working Pattern

This is a part-time permanent position (32 hours per week), working:

  • Thursday and Friday night shifts
  • 1 in 3 Wednesday night shifts
  • 1 in 3 Saturday night shifts as part of the weekend rota
  • Participation in the Bank Holiday rotation

Key Responsibilities

The Night Registered Veterinary Nurse will be responsible for:

  • Delivering exceptional inpatient and overnight nursing care
  • Monitoring and supporting patients recovering in wards
  • Administering medications and pain relief plans
  • Managing specialised diets and feeding protocols
  • Supporting physiotherapy and rehabilitation plans
  • Providing catheter, drain and wound care
  • Ensuring patients receive mental stimulation and comfort overnight
  • Working collaboratively with clinicians, anaesthetists, patient care assistants, twilight teams and daytime nursing teams
  • Maintaining accurate patient records and ensuring continuity of care

This role offers exposure to a wide range of interesting and complex cases, allowing the successful candidate to utilise and develop their full nursing skillset.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) with experience in a similar role

  • Be eligible to work in the UK

The successful candidate will join a welcoming and collaborative team, including a highly supportive Patient Care Assistant (PCA) team, with full support from the wider nursing department.
