We are delighted to be introducing a brand-new Out of Hours (OOH) service at a long-established, well-equipped veterinary hospital in the heart of Cardiff. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with a keen interest in emergency and critical care to join a forward-thinking and genuinely supportive team.
At the core of this hospital’s culture is a strong sense of community. Whether it's lending a hand during a tough shift, sharing a coffee in quiet moments, or getting involved in a charity challenge, this is a place where people look out for one another. Your wellbeing and work-life balance are treated as a priority, with structured shifts, realistic caseloads, and a team who understands the value of time off and proper breaks.
The role focuses solely on emergency cases, offering exposure to a wide range of clinical scenarios without the burden of routine appointments or income-driven targets. The rota is thoughtfully designed—seven consecutive night shifts (7:45pm to 8:15am) followed by fourteen days off—allowing for genuine downtime and the opportunity to pursue other interests or simply rest and recharge.
Working safely and effectively is a cornerstone of this hospital's approach. You’ll have access to comprehensive protocols, up-to-date equipment, and a knowledgeable support team to ensure you're confident and protected while delivering care. Importantly, you'll also have the opportunity to work alongside and support veterinary students, helping shape their development in a hands-on, real-world environment.
This is more than just a job—it’s a chance to be part of something new and meaningful. The team is pragmatic, pet-focused, and driven by a commitment to quality, not quotas. If you value purposeful work, a predictable schedule, and a genuinely supportive atmosphere, this could be the perfect role for you.
Located in Cardiff, the hospital offers the best of city life and coastal charm. Known for its friendly energy, vibrant culture, and scenic bay, Cardiff is a fantastic place to live, work, and explore.
If you're ready to make a real impact—when pets and their people need you most—I would love to hear from you.
