OOH Veterinary Surgeon – Cork

  • Work in one of Cork’s busiest and most advanced small animal referral hospitals, featuring cutting edge facilities like CT, laparoscopy, spinal surgery, and hydrotherapy.
  • Enjoy a supportive, certificate holding team that encourages your professional development with fully funded certificates and specialist mentorship.
  • Make a meaningful impact in emergency and critical care, managing complex, rewarding cases with autonomy and expert support.
  • Receive a competitive salary and generous benefits package while maintaining a healthy work-life balance in a compassionate, progressive practice.

This is a rare opportunity to join one of Cork’s busiest and most advanced 100% small animal referral hospitals as an OOH Veterinary Surgeon. Offering a wide range of industry leading referral services—including CT scanning, radiography, ultrasound, laparoscopy, endoscopy, orthopaedic and spinal surgery, in-house lab diagnostics, 24-hour emergency care, and even canine hydrotherapy—this practice is at the cutting edge of small animal medicine.

The successful candidate will join a compassionate, experienced team in a hospital that truly values professional excellence and team wellbeing. Many of the vets and nurses hold advanced certificates or specialise in areas of personal interest, and there is strong encouragement for ongoing professional development—including fully funded certificates. This is an exceptional place to grow your skills in emergency and critical care, with the full support of an advanced multidisciplinary team behind you.

This role offers the chance to make a real difference to pets and their families during their most critical moments, delivering lifesaving care and compassionate support. Your responsibilities will include the management of inpatients, providing timely updates to owners, consulting on emergencies, and confidently handling medical and surgical cases out of hours.

Applicants must be VCI registered Veterinary Surgeons with proven experience in emergency medicine or OOH practice. Junior vets or recent graduates are not eligible for this position. Bank holiday work is required if it falls on your scheduled weekend.

If you're an experienced vet ready to take the next step in your emergency medicine career while maintaining a healthy work-life balance in a state-of-the-art, caring environment—this role in beautiful Cork is not to be missed!
