OOH ECC Veterinary Surgeon – Join a Multi-Award-Winning Hospital in Leeds

Are you a confident and compassionate veterinary surgeon with a passion for emergency and critical care? This is your chance to join a multi-award-winning, RCVS-accredited small animal hospital located in the thriving and well-connected city of Leeds.

This family-run hospital is a cornerstone of the local veterinary community and has recently undergone an impressive expansion to further enhance the services it offers to pets across West Yorkshire. With a longstanding reputation for excellence, the hospital proudly holds Gold Cat Friendly status from the ISFM, Silver accreditation from the RWAF, and was named Best UK Vets in County 2022—clear recognition of the team's unwavering commitment to delivering outstanding, round-the-clock care.

The hospital is now looking to welcome a dedicated OOH ECC Veterinary Surgeon into their experienced and welcoming team. This is a permanent, part-time position that follows a 7 nights on, 14 nights off rota, covering shifts from 8pm to 8am, offering both stability and generous time off between blocks. You'll never be alone on shift—working alongside a skilled OOH RVN and VCA, with a twilight RVN on duty until midnight and reception support available until 10pm. Plus, the day team includes certificate holders in small animal surgery, internal medicine, and dentistry, who are always happy to provide guidance and support when needed.

The hospital is exceptionally well equipped, providing you with all the tools necessary to confidently manage emergency cases. Facilities include full in-house laboratory (Procyte, Catalyst Dx, EPOC, Coags), transfusion medicine capabilities, digital X-ray, advanced ultrasound with Doppler, visiting CT for further diagnostics, dental radiography with CR7 developer, flexible and rigid endoscopy, ECG, capnography, Doppler BP, Gen11 vessel sealing, Valleylab monopolar/bipolar, Ligaclips, and advanced sterilisation systems. Whether you're managing an Addisonian crisis, diabetic ketoacidosis, pancreatitis, or undertaking emergency surgeries such as caesareans, pyometras, or enterotomies, you’ll have the tools and team around you to deliver gold-standard care.

You’ll become part of a passionate team of over 70 professionals, including 15 vets, all working together in a positive, collaborative environment. The culture is supportive and progressive, with a genuine emphasis on clinical development, team wellbeing, and patient care. Ongoing training and development are actively encouraged, and while the night role requires a level of independence, further training and mentoring are available to help you grow into the position if needed.

If you thrive in a fast-paced, varied clinical environment and want to make a difference when it matters most, this could be the perfect opportunity. Come and be part of a hospital that values its people as much as its patients, and help shape the future of emergency veterinary care in Leeds.
