Our client, a well-respected, RCVS-accredited small animal practice, is seeking a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join their friendly and dynamic team. Located in a popular market town in West Berkshire, this practice has been established for over 100 years and is one of the largest first-opinion practices in the UK.
As part of this role, you will work within a large team across three branches, ensuring no sole charge responsibilities. Your duties will include consultations (at least 15 minutes per consultation), surgery, work-ups, and time for day-to-day phone calls and other ancillary veterinary tasks. The position is ideal for a vet who enjoys working in a supportive and collaborative environment.
The main hospital is a RCVS Tier 3 facility, based in a vibrant town in West Berkshire. With a 45-minute train journey to London Paddington and situated near the North Wessex Downs, the location offers both convenience and beautiful countryside for outdoor activities. The two additional branches are located within a short distance of Newbury and are fully equipped with state-of-the-art surgical and diagnostic equipment, including digital radiography, digital dental radiography, ultrasound with colour doppler, endoscopy, arthroscopy, operating microscope, microsurgical equipment, slit lamp, and tonovet.
You will be joining a team of 17 Vets and 30 Nurses (including Nursing Assistants). The team includes certificate holders in ophthalmology, imaging, and surgery, with others currently pursuing certificates in medicine, exotics, and surgery. The Rota:
• Full time role - 4 day week
• Shared OOH rota with full back-up when on call at night (the current rota pattern is 1:15 nights and 1:7 weekends)
