Surgical Intern (Soft Tissue) - North East

We have a rare opportunity here at Purovets for a surgical intern to join an independent multidisciplinary small animal veterinary referral hospital based in the North East, close to the vibrant cities of Newcastle and Durham.
Our client is looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic, and hard-working veterinary surgeon who wishes to further their theoretical knowledge and practical experience primarily in the field of soft tissue surgery. Their soft tissue team is currently comprised of one RCVS & EBVS European Specialist in Small Animal Surgery (who will be your mentor) and one experienced RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Surgery.
The hospital is fully equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including in-house CT, ultrasound, endoscopy, lab, Arthrex Synergy laparoscopy, dedicated soft tissue and separate fluoroscopy theatres, Harmonic system with a wide range of handpieces, plus all of the usual staplers and general kit.
You will be a key part of a small and friendly team as they continue their journey to be the best in the region for their patients, clients, and staff. This position is best suited to someone who has previously completed a rotating internship, though consideration will be given to exceptional applicants without this background.
The role is split between three main aspects: in-house practical training, in-house theoretical training, and a contribution to the out-of-hours rota.
The successful candidate must be passionate about veterinary soft tissue surgery. You must be an MRCVS and be eligible to work in the UK. You should have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and competent IT skills. Ideally, you will have previously completed a rotating veterinary internship.

The Rota:
• Full time role - Fixed-Term 1 year
• Four week rolling rota: 2 weeks on clinics, 1 week on nights, 1 week off
