Description

Veterinary Surgeon – Independent Small Animal Practice | Bradford, West Yorkshire
Salary up to £65,000 DOE + Future Partnership Opportunity + Excellent Work–Life Balance

A rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join a long-standing, genuinely independent small animal practice in Bradford, West Yorkshire. This is an ideal role for a vet seeking long-term stability, true clinical freedom, and a clear pathway to partnership and future practice ownership.

This well-established, single-site practice offers something increasingly hard to find in today’s veterinary market — an animal-first environment with no corporate influence, no sales targets and no pressure to upsell. Instead, the focus is entirely on providing honest, affordable veterinary care and building meaningful relationships with clients and their pets.

The practice is looking for a compassionate, confident and capable Veterinary Surgeon to become part of a close-knit, highly supportive team and help shape the future of the business.

The Practice

This busy but welcoming small animal practice is supported by a loyal client base and a permanent, experienced team consisting of three qualified veterinary nurses, a receptionist and a nursing apprentice, creating a collaborative and friendly working environment.

The owner remains actively involved in running the practice and supporting the team, despite no longer working clinically. They are committed to maintaining the practice’s reputation for continuity of care, fair pricing and excellent standards, while providing genuine autonomy to the veterinary team.

This role offers the chance to follow cases through from start to finish, build lasting client relationships and practise veterinary medicine in a way that prioritises patient care over profit.

The practice also works closely with a local cat charity, bringing additional variety and rewarding case exposure.

Facilities & Equipment

The practice is exceptionally well equipped, including:

  • In-house IDEXX laboratory
  • Digital radiography
  • Ultrasound facilities
  • Bronchoscope
  • Starter orthopaedic kit
  • Strong local referral and diagnostic support, including specialist ultrasound services

This is an excellent opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon with an interest in surgery who is looking to continue developing their practical skills, build a strong clinical portfolio and pursue personal interests within a supportive environment.

The Role

This is a sole charge Veterinary Surgeon position, so confidence in clinical decision-making and day-to-day case management is important. However, support is always available through an experienced nursing team, trusted local connections and a reliable group of regular locums.

The successful vet will enjoy the freedom to work cases their way, influence clinical direction and become an integral part of a respected independent practice.

This is not a short-term stopgap role. The practice is ideally seeking someone who wants to put down roots, grow with the business and become part of its future. For the right candidate, there is a genuine opportunity to begin a partnership pathway after a successful first year, with future ownership a real possibility.

  • Full-time position – 4-day week
  • Fixed weekday off
  • No out-of-hours
