Are you ready to find true work-life balance in a place where morning rounds might follow sunrise walks on the beach, and your patients range from beloved pets to rescued puffins? This is your chance to become part of something special – a progressive, independent mixed practice in one of the most beautiful and tranquil corners of the British Isles.
Since 1981, this well-established practice has been at the heart of Guernsey’s animal care, delivering compassionate, expert veterinary services from two well-equipped clinics. With a 95% small animal caseload, there’s still room for your interests in equine or farm work to shine, and you’ll also have the chance to contribute meaningfully through a long-standing partnership with the local animal charity, the GSPCA. From providing care for seals and hedgehogs to flying weekly to Alderney in support of animal welfare there, every day brings fresh variety and purpose.
You’ll be joining a close-knit team of four brilliant vets, including a certificate holder and vets with specialisms in cardiology and ophthalmology. Supported by an exceptional nursing and reception team, collaboration is central to the practice’s ethos. Morning rounds are a daily ritual – a time for connection, discussion, and planning – while regular clinical meetings ensure shared learning and continuous growth.
The facilities are excellent and only getting better. With ultrasound, digital x-ray, in-house labs and full theatres already in place, the practice is undergoing a thoughtful expansion and will soon be home to endoscopy, laparoscopy and even a CT scanner.
Flexibility is key here. Whether a four-day week or shorter shifts over five days suits you best, the rota can be tailored to your lifestyle. The out-of-hours commitment is minimal – just 1:5 – and fully supported by a capable nursing team who handle inpatients.
Life in Guernsey offers everything you might hope for: coastal beauty, a laid-back pace, a welcoming community, and a touch of the extraordinary. From fine dining and water sports to cliff-top hikes and quick, easy flights to the UK mainland, it’s a setting that nurtures wellbeing as much as it inspires.
