This independent, privately-owned practice is seeking a passionate and spirited team member to join their experienced, loyal and friendly team. This is an incredibly well-established practice that has been operating since the 1850s. The practice is very well-equipped, including a digital x-ray, ultrasound, endoscope, class 4 K-Laser, IDEXX in-house lab, in-house cytology, dental suite, multi-parameter monitors and much more, as well as alternative medicine options such as acupuncture.
The practice is offering a wonderful opportunity for a small animal Veterinary Surgeon, and whether you have experience or are a recent graduate, they welcome your application. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and be confident in their abilities medically and surgically. They are looking for an approachable personality who will assist fellow Vets whilst learning from them. This practice has welcomed and supported many new graduates over the years, offering a collaborative approach and clear development pathway, so it really is a great place to thrive in your first position since graduating. You will be joining a close-knit team, very supportive of each other and they are very much looking for someone who wants to enjoy working as part of a close team and take the job, but not yourself, seriously. They all work in collaboration to achieve the best outcomes possible. The team is currently made up of five vets, three experienced and supportive RVNs, one SVN and two ANAs, as well as four wonderful receptionists and the practice manager. As the practice has excellent support staff with designated receptionists, the nurses are purely clinically focused.
This is a permanent, full-time position, and the normal working day is 8:15am - 6pm. The practice ensures they make time within these hours to allocate admin time, and you will have a protected 1 hour lunch break daily. You will be working on a rota for 1 in 4 weekends, Saturday working on consults 8:15 am - 11 am, then 2:30 pm-4 pm. Check-in and care on a Sunday is required if there are inpatients, however a nurse will always be onsite with you. Tuesday is given as a day off after working a weekend, whether there were inpatients or not! OOHs are provided by VetsNow, however, there is a 1 in 4 weeknight cover rota and only if there are inpatients at practice. This is mainly via phone for advice as required by the nurse.
You will be working in Stamford, a lovely market town with lots of independent shops, restaurants and pubs. Stamford is on the border of Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire, Rutland, and Northamptonshire, with great commuting links and lots to offer.
The Rota:
- Balanced Workweek: 5-day workweek, 8:15 am - 6 pm, with a guaranteed 1-hour lunch break daily.
- Great Weekend Flexibility: Only 1 in 4 Saturdays, 8:15 am - 4 pm, with no out-of-hours (OOHs) commitment.
- Get Tuesday off for every weekend you work!
- Low Weeknight Inpatient Cover: Just 1 in 4 weeknights, and only if inpatients are present.
