A unique and exciting opportunity awaits a Veterinary Surgeon at a RCVS accredited 24-hour hospital in the vibrant town of Watford. Nestled on the edge of the picturesque Chiltern Hills, Watford is a haven for nature lovers, boasting numerous award-winning parks and green spaces. In light of an upcoming maternity leave, our client is seeking a talented Veterinary Surgeon to join their dedicated team at the Watford 24-hour hospital. This is a fixed-term position with a duration of 9-12 months, presenting the potential for a permanent role upon completion of the term.
As a valued member of their dynamic team, you will work alongside ten experienced Vets, sixteen skilled Nurses, and six Client Care Assistants, along with a dedicated night team. Many of the team members hold certificates or are in the process of obtaining them. Their areas of specialisation encompass internal medicine, advanced diagnostic imaging, including cardiology and CT, intricate orthopaedic procedures, small animal soft tissue surgeries, and emergency & critical care cases.
Their state-of-the-art hospital is equipped with two consultation rooms, separate dog and cat wards, two well-appointed theatres (orthopaedic and soft tissue), dedicated diagnostic suites with digital x-ray, ultrasound, and CT capabilities, comprehensive dental facilities, fully equipped endoscopy services (rhinoscopy, bronchoscopy, gastroscopy, and laparoscopy), an in-house laboratory with a wide range of diagnostic tools, a dedicated isolation ward, and staff relaxation facilities.
The ideal candidate will be registered with the RCVS, possess prior experience in small animal practice, demonstrate confidence in conducting medical and surgical consultations, and exhibit competence in routine surgical procedures (extensive surgical expertise is not mandatory). Familiarity with imaging techniques such as ultrasound and radiography is advantageous, but our client is open to candidates willing to learn and expand their skill set.

The Rota:
• Fixed term - Full time role
• 39 hour week over 4 days
• 1:6 full weekends
