Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon – Independent Practice | Powys | Up to £70,000 Pro Rata
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and passionate RCVS registered Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join a thriving independent veterinary practice in Powys following the expansion of a second branch.
This modern, forward-thinking practice was established under new ownership in 2020 after the previous owner retired. Since then, the leadership team has focused on building a progressive, community-focused veterinary practice offering exceptional standards of care, advanced facilities, and genuine support for both clients and colleagues.
The practice is now seeking a dedicated Small Animal Vet with at least two years’ experience to help support and lead the growing team while delivering outstanding patient care in a friendly and collaborative environment.
The Role
This position focuses exclusively on small animal work and offers a varied and rewarding caseload within a fully equipped and supportive practice environment. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to further develop their clinical interests, pursue leadership responsibilities, or achieve an improved work–life balance through flexible working arrangements.
Certificate holders, or vets currently studying towards certification, are strongly encouraged to apply. Full support and encouragement will be provided for continued professional development and career progression.
About the Practice
This independent, RCVS accredited practice provides services for farm animals, equine clients, and companion animals across the local area, while this role remains entirely small animal focused.
The practice is committed to gold-standard veterinary care and is equipped with:
- Ultrasound machines
- Digital x-ray facilities
- Dental x-rays
- In-house laboratory
- Hydrotherapy unit
- Hospitalisation facilities
- Spacious walk-in kennels with orthopaedic mattresses
- Cat-friendly inpatient wards with specialised feline housing
Advanced surgical procedures offered in-house include:
- Orthopaedic surgery
- BOAS surgery
- Thyroidectomy
- Cherry eye repair
Home visits are also provided as part of the practice’s personalised care approach.
The Team
The successful candidate will join a highly experienced and supportive 9-vet practice with clinical experience spanning back to 1991. The veterinary team includes mixed practitioners, small animal clinicians, and a feline certificate holder, alongside a dedicated nursing and support team committed to delivering exceptional patient and client care.
Package & Benefits
- Salary of £50,000–£70,000 pro rata, depending on experience
- Flexible 3- or 4-day working week

- Saturday morning rota only
