Farm Veterinary Surgeon – Join a Proudly Independent Practice in Herefordshire
An incredible opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and experienced Farm Veterinary Surgeon to join a proudly independent, family-run practice in the beautiful cathedral city of Hereford. With deep roots in the local farming community and a strong reputation built on trust, quality care, and continuity, this practice has grown from strength to strength, now operating across three branches that serve both farm and equine clients.
In this full-time role, your focus will be on farm animal work—particularly dairy—although if you also have a passion for equine, there’s room for a mixed vet to find their place here too. You’ll be joining a friendly and supportive team of 17 vets and 9 TB testers, all of whom are committed to delivering first-class, proactive veterinary care to a broad client base that includes dairy, beef, sheep, and milking goat units. The practice takes pride in building long-term relationships with its clients and in offering a high standard of clinical care without the burden of routine TB testing.
The culture here is truly collaborative. You'll be surrounded by an enthusiastic team that includes DBR and certificate holders as well as RVC production animal interns, all of whom believe in sharing knowledge and supporting each other. The nursing team is highly experienced and always on hand to help, ensuring that you’ll never be working in isolation or without backup.
The practice is looking for a vet with at least one to three years’ experience who enjoys being part of a larger team and is keen to contribute to the wider life of the practice. The rota offers a great work-life balance, with a five-day working week, one set day off every fortnight, and a 1 in 5 on-call rota that includes weekends—but importantly, you’ll never be on call alone, as there are always at least two vets on hand for support.

The historic city of Hereford and surrounding market towns like Leominster and Ledbury are full of charm, with medieval architecture, independent shops, and a strong sense of community.
